Title:
Handy's Resort Cabin at Sherwood Beach - 1946
Date:
August 1946
Provenance:
in a letter from the donor she says: "The wood cabins were rustic, but homey and cozy. An enclosed, screened porch went across the entire front of the cabin. The living room had a large stone fireplace with one bedroom across from it. Behind the living room was a good sized kitchen with a sink, counter, table and chairs, and a wood stove. Another bedroom and a small storage room were across from the kitchen. A back porch had an ice box, kept cold by an ice block, which Mr. Handy delivered. A trail from the back porch led into the woods to an outhouse - one for each cabin. There was no electricity; we used hurricane (kerosene) lamps for light and the wood stove and fireplace for cooking and heat. I don't remember about drinking water. "
