The museum sells books on Priest Lake history along with guide books to regional birds, mushrooms, wildflowers, and trails. We sponsor two books, Wild Place: A History of Priest Lake, Idaho and Pioneer Voices of Priest Lake.  Their royalties help support the museum, so if you are not able to get to the museum, you can find them at locations around the lake and online.

Wild Place: A History of Priest Lake, Idaho, Washington State University Press, 2015

This book offers a illustrated, documented, comprehensive history of Priest Lake.  It  traces a century of the lake’s history from the early trappers to the creation of the Upper Priest Lake Scenic Area. It features 200 photographs and five detailed maps. Also available in hardback at the museum only.

Pioneer Voices of Priest Lake, Keokee Press, 2007

This collection of oral histories along with photographs provides a fascinating window into the past of Priest Lake.  Pioneer Leonard Paul’s recollections are enhanced with the addition of the next generation of lake voices captured by the museum through our oral history project dating to 1983.  This book offers glimpses of Priest Lake before World War II through the words of those who actually experienced it.
