Membership

When you join the Priest Lake Museum, you support the heritage of the lake. You get the annual  newsletter in the spring, invites to special events, discounts on books, and our appreciation for your support.  Complete the  membership form (pdf) and send it our way.  (can this be directly sent to the museum?)

The Priest Lake Museum is a 501 (c-3) non-profit organization.  Our financial support comes from memberships, monetary and in-kind donations, occasional grants, and  the sale of books and other museum-related items.  There are no regularly paid staff.  The Museum is maintained and operated by volunteers in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service.  The Board of Directors give their time and talents to make the Museum such a success.

Hosting at the Museum

Please consider becoming a host at the museum one or two days each summer. You can select your days and either a three or six hour shift. We will train you and as a host you get to talk with all sorts of interesting people and help out the museum too. We have no regularly paid staff so the museum can open its door because of our remarkable hosts.  Contact us.

In 2019, the museum was open for 85 days with the help of over 45 volunteer hosts.  Visitors represented 11 different countries and more and 40 states.  Some hosts are locals and others are seasonal but all enjoy spending time supporting the museum by sharing their experiences and knowledge with visitors.

Priest Lake StoryCorps  Friends and family have recorded special stories and memories of Priest Lake for posterity.  Inspired by the national StoryCorps program, you choose a friend, neighbor or loved one to interview about their experiences. You are the interviewer asking the questions.  The museum facilitator will take care of the technical stuff and make you a CD to take home.  The museum will preserve your interview and also send it to the StoryCorps collection at the Library of Congress.  Sign up at the Museum (priestlakemuseum@gmail.com or 443-2676) for a forty minute recording session July 1- August 10. We will send you sample questions but encourage you to craft your own.

Donating Items

Thank you for your interest in contributing another piece of history to the Priest Lake Museum.  The Museum collects artifacts and documents that illuminate the diverse history of Priest Lake. Because our building is so small, we are also mindful of size and condition   For photographs, we can scan your photographs and return your originals.   If you are interested in donating items to the museum, please complete the Artifact Donation Form and a collection committee member will get back to you.
